Tragedy & Strength of Character

I have been following the tragedy in China and Burma (or as the tyrants call it now, Myanmar). It led me to revisit the issue of how fragile, yet beautiful life is. We continue to have challenges all around us. There are those of us who don't even have something to eat, and yet somehow always are hopeful. What this little video, courtesy of Michael Josephson in Youtube, says it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-Lm_U9yEP0.

We have to remember and never forget!!!

Zimbabwe & Burma

Well, Zimbabwe is once again on the brink. The so-called Justice Minister was quoted on the BBC as saying that the opposition will not be allowed to win. What continues to blows me away is how come Thabo Mbeki is staying silent. Do people truly matter? I guess not. Whenever you have dictators who only think about themselves, the ordinary folks get lost in the shuffle.

As for Burma, this is another sad story. We, as a community of nations, are to blame for Burma's misery. Thang Swawe and Robert Mugabe are not...they are smart enough to exploit our weakness as a community. It is sad when John Holmes of the UN has to beg for relief supplies to get in. What a sad testimony to our predicament as a world.....

Here He Goes, Again!!!

Earlier tonight, I read in a posting on radiofarda.com that John Bolton is advocating a military strike on Iran. Will this man ever learn? Isn't the mess he helped create in Iraq enough for a generation? Now, The Foreign Minister of Iraq is joining the chorus of building up the case for attack on Iran.

The Government of Iran is not the issue. The issue is whether such an attack will further destablize the region. My problem is that John Bolton and his crowd just don't understand that Iran is not Iraq. I don't think they understood Iraq, anyway. These guys listened to a bunch of self-centered charlatans who ended up creating the biggest foreign policy blunder this country has ever witnessed. One recent impact of this misadventure is Burma. Because of this blunder, a whole generation of Burmese will have to potentially live with a brutal, corrupt military dictatorship because our moral legitimacy has suffered greatly as a result of the misadventures at hand.
