#RandomThoughts (Quarter-End Edition)

Please Enjoy these Random Thoughts courtesy of Jonathan Lockwood Huie and others as we look forward to be of service as the new Quarter dawns:

Jesus said: "When you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.

And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you."
- Luke 14:13-14

If the misery of the poor be caused
not by the laws of nature,
but by our institutions,
great is our sin.
- Charles Darwin

Jesus preached more and taught more about helping
the poor and the sick and the hungry
than he did about heaven and hell.
Shouldn't that tell us something?
- John Grisham

#RandomThoughts

For this Edition of  #RandomThoughts,  our Founder contributed this on an outreach he did on a view of Senator Harris we hope all find of interest:

September 14, 2018
Dear Mr. Pouraryan,

Thank you for contacting me to voice your concerns about the workings of our government and the state of our nation. The importance of civic involvement cannot be overstated, and it is an honor to serve as your United States Senator. I have heard your concerns, and my legislative work will continue to be guided by the needs of constituents like you.
Each and every American has the right to education, public safety, and health care. I have dedicated my time in the Senate fighting for the most vulnerable among us and defending the inalienable rights guaranteed by our Constitution. I have introduced legislation to bring common-sense back to our immigration system including the Access to Counsel Act, which would ensure that anyone detained at our borders has access to voluntary legal counsel, and the Detention Oversight Not Expansion (DONE) Act, which would drastically reduce the size of ICE’s detention system.  I have introduced legislation to make our economy work for everyone including the Fairness for Farmworkers Act, which would end the discriminatory rule denying overtime pay for farmworkers, and the bipartisan EMPOWER Act, which increases accountability surrounding workplace sexual harassment that disproportionately affects women by prohibiting non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses as conditions of employment. I also cosponsored important legislation that would allow anyone to enroll in Medicare and make college tuition free. And still, I know our work has just begun.
Now more than ever, our constitutionally-guaranteed rights must be diligently protected. I will fight to protect these rights, and make sure that our voices not silenced or forgotten. As your senator, I will spend my time in Congress advocating for every Californian and every American.
Thank you again for reaching out to me. If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to visit my website at www.harris.senate.gov or call my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3553.

Sincerely,
Kamala D. Harris
United States Senator

Notations On Our World (Special Edition): On this #PatriotsDay2018

As we remember, we hereby present this courtesy of the team at 911Day.Org we are featuring on all our properties as we congratulate them on the rollout of their new website:

Here are 10 good deeds for 9/11.

Dear Friend of 9/11 Day,

The 17th anniversary of the September 11 attacks is now just one week away.  We hope you will again join millions of Americans who will be observing this solemn day, now the nation's largest day of service, by taking time to do just ONE good deed for 9/11. Any good deed counts!

Below are ten good ideas to help get you started.  And please share your good deed plans on social media using the hashtag #911day.  For more ideas and info, check out our brand new website911day.org

Thanks for helping to turn this day of tragedy into a day of doing good!

1.    Purchase school supplies for your children’s classroom.
2.    Visit an aging relative or friend -- someone that would benefit from your company.
3.    Deliver food or cookies to your local fire or police station.
4.    (If you’re a child living at home), help your parents clean the house, do dishes, make your bed, or assist your brother or sister with their homework.
5.    Make a financial contribution to a charity, faith group, or school that matters to you.
6.    Give something away to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or another charity, such as items of clothing (in good shape) to that you don’t need, like winter coats, shoes, or eyewear. Your children can give away used toys they don’t need, like bicycles or skates they’ve outgrown.
7.    Volunteer. September is Hunger Action Awareness Month, so check out local soup kitchens, food pantries, or food banks, which provide food assistance and free meals to homeless and others. They need volunteers all the time. Also visit 911day.org/volunteer to search for other opportunities in your area.
8.    Donate pet food to a local animal shelter.
9.    Donate old cell phones, which often are provided to shelters for victims of domestic abuse. Many mobile phone companies accept these at their local stores.
10.    Do a good deed for yourself – you count, too – so make 9/11 the day you quit smoking, start exercising, or begin a new activity you’ve put off.

Your friends,

David Paine and Jay Winuk
Co-founders, 9/11 Day

Notations From the Grid (Weekly Edition): On Failure

As September dawns here in our properties, an admonition for all of us ordinary faces courtesy of Leticia Gasca as our team says:  Onward!!!

12:34 minutes · Filmed Jun 2018 · Posted Aug 2018 · TED Salon Brightline Initiative
We celebrate bold entrepreneurs whose ingenuity led them to success, but what happens to those who fail? Far too often, they bury their stories out of shame or humiliation -- and miss out on a valuable opportunity for growth, says author and entrepreneur Leticia Gasca. In this thoughtful talk, Gasca calls for business owners to open up about their failures and makes the case for replacing the idea of "failing fast" with a new mantra: fail mindfully.

On the Dawn of September.....

Please Enjoy these latest courtesy of Jonathan Lockwood Huie as we look forward to our privilege to serve:

Fear not for the future,
weep not for the past.
- Percy Bysshe Shelley

History is a relentless master.
It has no present, only the past rushing into the future.
To try to hold fast is to be swept aside.
- John F. Kennedy

The mind exists in time, in fact the mind is time;
it exists in the past and the future.
And remember, time consists of only two tenses,
the past and the future.
The present is not part of time,
the present is part of eternity.
- Osho

Life cannot be lived fully or joyfully if
our thoughts are focused on regretting the past,
preoccupied with anticipating the future,
or lost in the mind-fog of unconscious habitual behavior.

As We Go Dark in Our Properties thru Labor Day Here in the United States....

We will be dark in our properties through Labor Day Week-End  here in the United States.  We hope all enjoy our live broadcast pods as our Twitter Channel will continue to be curated with updates throughout the weekend.   We also hereby join the World in remembering a valiant American, United States Senator John McCain, who passed away this past week-end with one of his final speeches as he accepted the 2017 Liberty Medal:

Senator McCain will lie in State at the Arizona State House,  and the US Capitol before he is laid to rest at his final resting place the US Naval Academy at Annapolis.     Former Vice President Biden will eulogize him in Arizona and former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush in Washington.     We honor his life and his sense of duty to America and pray that the almighty grant his family the solace to overcome the profound grief.

We leave you all with the Serenity Prayer as we gear up for a new month of deliberations here in our Properties:
