Notations From the Grid (Weekly Edition): How @OrdinaryFaces Make a Difference

We here at the Daily Outsider are extremely fortunate to be supportive of Community Initiatives.   One of the initiatives we support is   Scouting in Orange County.   Scouts raised over 200 Lbs as the Annual Day of Service has begun in earnest.   It is a pleasure to feature this from the Woja Chapter of the El Camino Real District--they gave up a fundraising opportunity to help the less fortunate:

Woja Collects Over 200 lbs of Can Goods at Day Camp

Each year at Cub Day Camp, Woja Chapter of Wiatava Lodge Order of the Arrow runs a can food drive to benefit the hungry in Orange County.   By offering a free snow cone in exchange for 3 cans of food, Woja was able to collect over 200 lbs of can goods.  The week of day camp begins with campers being told of the opportunity to instead of paying $1 for a snow cone they can get a free one for 3 cans of food - each day.  To help them realize how delicious the Woja snow cones are, we gave everyone at camp a free snow cone on Monday.  Beginning Tuesday the cans came pouring in.  Each day we told them the can count and urged them to remember to bring cans the next day. By Friday we had over 200 lbs.  The can were delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Those kids donating cans will be earning the Gorilla Patrol patch issued by Orange County council.

The Scouts lived up to the following and our team looks forward to being supportive in every way that we can:

In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.
- Matthew 25:40

When faith and hope fail, as they do sometimes,
we must try charity, which is love in action.
We must speculate no more on our duty,
but simply do it.
When we have done it, however blindly,
perhaps Heaven will show us why.
