Notations On Our World (Special Weekly Edition): How Ordinary People Make a Difference

We are pleased to present this latest courtesy of the team at MOAS (Migrant OffShore Aid Station) who have been at the forefront of saving lives in the Meditereran.   Our team had the pleasure to buy the latest Coldplay as they have dedicated all proceeds to MOAS:

What happened in July?

We are incredibly excited to announce that Coldplay have unveiled a new song, A L I E N S, from their forthcoming Kaleidoscope EP, with all song proceeds being donated to MOAS. The song and video focus on what it means to be forced to leave home and to search for a safe place to live.

On the 7th July, MOAS was among the recipients awarded the prestigious Freedom Awards by the Atlantic Council in Poland. Maria Luisa Catrambone accepted the award on behalf of the organisation, stating: "We are here today, because in the face of apathy & inaction, we lead a community who continue to choose courage over fear". We are very grateful to the Atlantic Council for this incredible honour. Help us save more lives at sea by donating whatever you can.

Art can be an incredibly powerful means to share ideas, inspire empathy, and forge connections between people. Since MOAS was established, both our work at sea and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean have inspired artists to support our mission. In this blog post, we reflect on the various ways artists have engaged with us, how they have approached the subject of forced migration, and how this has helped our organisation.

What has MOAS been up to?

Joseph Sammut, who has often worked with our crew as an Able Bodied Seaman, has very generously donated EUR 500 to the organisation in lieu of a wedding souvenir. A huge thank you to Joey for everything he has done for MOAS. Why not get involved in fundraising yourself?

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc have donated 6,000 bottles of water to support our life-saving search-and-rescue (SAR) mission at sea. The bottles will be distributed to those we've rescued in order to provide much needed hydration on-board our vessel, the Phoenix. We would like to thank Farsons for their invaluable support!
