The US National Debt
The Statutory amount for the US National Debt stands at $ 8.184 Trillion. According to stories in the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, the Treasury Secretary wrote to the Congress telling the Congress that if the ceiling was not raised, the U.S. will risk default and its' credit rating will plummet. It is interesting that such an Adminstration that touts to be fiscally responsible, has presided over one of the largest increases in US National Debt. The party will end. It is extremely worrisome, but the current powerbrokers in Washington seem not to be concerned.
