On This Easter Week-End 2017...

On The Eve of Easter Week-End 2017,  We are pleased to feature this compilation of thoughts courtesy of +Jonathan Huie on all #Outsider properties.   It reminds us all  how we should approach on-going challenges and always make sure we forgive--and never hate:

Happy Easter to all......

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
- St. Francis of Assisi

You have heard that it was said,
"Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth."
But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person.
If someone strikes you on the right cheek,
turn to him the other also.
- Jesus (Matthew 5:38-39)

It is not enough to say we must not wage war.
It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray,
does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains
and go in search of the one that went astray?
And if he finds it, truly I tell you,
he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.
- Jesus (Matthew 18:12-13)

Know that all people are your brothers and sisters.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

View of the Week: How Ordinary Faces Make a Difference- Library For Gaza

Gaza Sunset:  Credit Mousab Abu Toab (Source: Library For Gaza)

We here at Outsiders are always amazed by how ordinary faces in the crowd  work to make a difference.  One such organization that seeks to do is Library For Gaza.   This was started by a Young Gazan with the simple notion that he wanted to have an English Library for all the children of Gaza.    We salute him and look forward to doing what we can to be supportive of this noble and just cause.

On This Palm Sunday 2017 Week-End....

Our team is grateful ever more to +Jonathan Huie & his team for putting this together that we are privileged to feature on all #Outsiders Properties on this Palm Sunday:

Judge not, that ye be not judged.
- Matthew 7:1

Then came Peter to him, and said,
Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me,
and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee,
Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
- Matthew 18:21-22

Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite [religious leader], when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan [Samaritans and Jews generally disliked and were suspicious of each other] came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds ... and ... took him to an inn and took care of him. ...
Jesus [said] "Go and do likewise."
- Luke 10:25-37 (The Parable of the Good Samaritan)

The Christian gospel is a summons to peace,
calling for justice beyond anger,
mercy beyond justice,
forgiveness beyond mercy,
love beyond forgiveness.

- Wendell Berry

Help support schools in Remote Areas of Pakistan

Marvi Soomro and her team are raising funds to continue an active volunteer program called Innovate. Educate. Inspire (IEI) Pakistan, at a school in a remote community. The program focuses on engaging children and adolescents through education and art, empowering children and their communities. Marvi Soomro left her career as a Software Engineer to work on this project full time. Help them achieve their goals and pitch in!

Notations On Our World: On National Service In the United States....

We wanted to dedicate this week here throughout all of our properties here at the Daily Outsider  Outsiders to National Service as President Trump's Budget blueprint has called for the elimination of the Corporation For National Service that spearheads National Service Throughout the United States and The World.    It is the primary Federal Agency responsible for innovative ideas like that President's National Service Award that has been at the forefront of elevating Civic Engagement.   Our team has also been witness to AmeriCorp Fellows being placed at Non-Profits throughout the United States including right here in Orange County California at leading Non- Profits including one organization we have supported-Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.   It underscores what was noted by the Corporation for National Service (as we are honored to join #Mayor4Service#County4Service, or #Tribe4Service )  as we hope that this will prompt the Administration to seriously reconsider its' elimination.

As Our Journey Continues.....

Our team picked up this reminder for all of us ordinary faces which we hope all embrace:

“You fall, you rise,
you make mistakes,
you live, you learn.
You’re human, not perfect.
You’ve been hurt, but you’re alive.
Think of what a precious privilege it is
to be alive to breathe,
to think, to enjoy,
and to be with people you love.
Sometimes there is sadness in our journey,
but there is also lots of beauty.
We must keep putting one foot in front of the other
even when we hurt,
for we will never know
what is waiting for us just around the bend.”
