Notations On Our World: As the Elections Get Going in #Iran

The Elections have begun in Iran for Parliament and the Assembly of Experts.     The so-called reformist faction in the Country has announced its' list.  Our team found it of interest as former President Khatami's Image was reflected here.    This list (in Farsi), reflects the endorsed list by the reformists for the Capital, Tehran along with the endorsed list for the Assembly of Experts (in Farsi referred to as "Khobergan Rahbari) that is responsible for choosing the next Supreme Leader (Supreme Guide For the Revolution).

Thomas Erdrink's New York Times' Column This morning laid out the profound challenge faced by the so-called reformist faction in lowering expectations.    Their main objective is to thwart the so-called principalists (hard liners) from gaining the upper hand.      All the reformists who are left standing are calling for a massive participation--Dr. Aref, the Former Vice President and leader of the reformist faction vying to be elected to Parliament underscored his love for the revolution during the weekend rally in Tehran:

It will fascinating to see whether the reformists can pull it off not withstanding all that has been done to block their efforts as Khameini came out forcefully last week noting that folks who were criticizing the Guardian Council must stop.

Notations On Our World (Sunday Special Edition): Quite a day On Our World re #Brexit; #Syria & @realDonaldTrump

London Mayor Boris Johnson delivers a statement to the media regarding his position on the forthcoming EU referendum.
London Mayor & MP Boris Johnson
Britain will vote in June on whether it wishes to stay in the European Union after the European Union and David Cameron agreed on a deal.   As we went to press, a prominent Conservative Politician has come out against Britain staying in the European Union:  Boris Johnson, The Mayor of London and probable successor to David Cameron.   We will be assessing the campaign in our #Europe watch over the ensuing days.

We have also been assessing Syria on a daily basis as we reviewed reports of another horrific attack on a Shiite shrine in Damascus.    The public stance by Iran has been that it deployed troops to protect the shrine.    We will not be surprised if there are Iranians who are among the dead as we periodically see reports of funerals on-going daily in Iran.    Russia's Defense Minister has also been on a visit to Tehran to discuss the war in Syria.   So far, it seems Russia is on the ascendency.   Haaretz featured a front page image as Syrian Government troops took over the Aleppo Power Plant on the outskirts of the City.    Refugees are on the move as the relentless bombing campaign by Russia continues.  Our team is seeing a live report by SkyNews with the aftermath of one bombing with this exclusive from Alex Rossi:

A young suvivor is pulled from the rubble in Aleppo

More than 11 Million Syrians are now refugees.

We have also been assessing the continued aftermath of the Presidential Campaign in the United States. The sampling our team reviewed this morning as outlined below is telling as the field has narrowed with this from Erik Erickson's The Resurgent:

It Becomes Rubio’s Race To Lose

After New Hampshire I wrote, “Each day that ticks by in South Carolina without Marco Rubio gaining ground is a day that Trump

This was also noted on the Conservative Firebrand RedState as well:

Donald Trump Has Less than 5% of the Delegates He Needs to Win the Nomination
The media does not understand conservatives in the least, and they never have.

Donald Trump is saying that he is not taking the nomination for granted.    But not withstanding Erik Erickson's admonition, It is Trump's to lose as of now based on the momentum so far.

What was so startling to us as we asssessed the state of the Campaign was this realistic and hard hitting analysis from the Harretz' Chemi Shalev.    Harrettz is known as a "Liberal" paper in Israel--however the reality check laid out by Chemi Shalvel should give anyone a moment of pause.   We appreciate our founder giving us a heads-up on this as we went to press with this special edition of "Notations".  It is available by clicking on this link for all to review.

Notations On Our World: On the US Presidential Campaign (The Day After Nevada & South Carolina)

It has been quite an evening as we reported on the results of the Nevada Caucus.    As the Clinton Campaign sent out its' "thank you's",  organizations supporting the Sanders Campaign sent out calls to action (including MoveOn.Org network and the Democracy for America Network) to ask for donations to his campaign as a build up to Super Tuesday:

The final results are in from Nevada and it looks like we're going to leave another state with roughly the same number of delegates as Hillary Clinton, maybe down just a few.

I want to be completely clear with you about what this result means: Nevada was supposed to be a state "tailor made" for the Clinton campaign, and a place she once led by almost 40 points. But today, we sent a message that will stun the political and financial establishment of this country: our campaign can win anywhere.

There are 26 primaries and caucuses in the next month, and three straight positive results for our campaign are sure to prompt an over-the-top response from the millionaires and billionaires who want to stop our campaign to transform America.

We have to be prepared for their best shot, because it’s coming:

We’re closing the gap dramatically in states that have yet to vote, and there’s a path to victory for our political revolution. If we continue to stand together, we’ll continue to win.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders

What is quite startling is what happened in South Carolina as Donald Trump won and won convincingly with over 32% of the votes cast.    Marco Rubio has come in a close second to Ted Cruz and the following went out from Rubio Campaign on donations (with personalized links):

Marco Rubio

After the results in New Hampshire, the media and Marco's opponents wrote our campaign off.

They said Marco had no chance, that he wasn't angry enough, that Americans weren't buying into his positive vision, that Republicans didn't want a nominee who could speak to all Americans.

Well, tonight in South Carolina we proved them wrong.

But   this fight is just beginning. Marco's taking nothing for granted in this election. We are now in a three-man race for the nomination, but that's going to be a long, tough battle.

Marco's opponents both have millions upon millions of dollars that they've shown they'd be happy to use to mudsling. In order to fight back, it's going to take all hands on deck.

We put together personalized links just for you, to make a special donation on this historic night.
This is as Jeb Bush dropped out of the Presidential Race.    Our team first noted the difficulties a number of days ago as reports began to surface that  the Campaign was running out of cash.   Governor Kasich is also another one that is hanging out and is making a case for Super Tuesday.      It was startling how he started with $ 100 Million Dollars and rolled out his Mother and Brother--however it just did not catch on.   What we found startling was how the Rubio Campaign characterized the second place finish.

It will be an interesting few weeks.......
