My First Day Visiting the Obama Campaign Website

Today was the first day I began a blog at Barrack Obama's Website. I had made periodic contributions to the John Edwards & Hillary Clinton Campaign Blogs. I urged the campaign to take note of two things: 1) The expected attack from the right-wing & 2) The repudiation of Presidential Signing Statements. The expected attack from the right-wing will be relentless. Already, for instance, Human Events has put out a 37-page book with all kinds of stuff on Barrack Obama. I sent that to the Campaign. I am sure that the Obama Campaign is smart and resourceful enough to be ready to deal with such issues. It will be a interesting campaign to watch!! I can't wait.....

The Clintons

All the pundits have been at it since Tuesday on reflecting upon what went wrong with Mrs. Clinton's campaign. There was a New York Times story this morning (available at http://www.nytimes.com) about how the legacy may be tarnished because of the oversights. There was also a column in Time Magazine by Joe Klein (available at http://www.time.com) about "Why The Clinton Dynasty is Over." As a fan of both Bill & Hillary Clinton, I am proud to have been a supporter. President Clinton made a difference. In my view, he was one of our greatest Presidents. His personal failings are something for which he has to continue to carry the burden and is something that is purely a private and family matter. He left the country better than he inherited it. That's all that matters..and we have to remember that as Americans.

As for Senator Clinton, she shattered many myths. She is a tenacious fighter. She lost a good fight...so what!!! I hope she goes on and continues to insure that she lives up to her committment to represent the 18 million voters who voted for her. As she noted in her June 7 concession speech, the stakes are simply too high. In my view, she worked to embrace the very challenges that drove her and President Clinton to enter public service many years ago. Senator Obama's tribute on June 3rd said it best. We, as Americans, must be very proud as a country to have such great public servants who have worked to aspire to reach the highest office in our land. Now, the real battle begins!!!

Briely On the Campaign, The Election & Senator McCain

The drama over the Democratic Nomination continues. Senator Obama hauled in $ 40 Million & Senator Clinton hauled in $ 20 Million. The momentum continues to be on Senator Obama's side. Senator Clinton is the underdog and she has said she won't quit. Senator McCain, though, is focused on building up party unity and solidifying his general election campaign coffers. He's also one lucky guy , being married to his wife Cindy. What they have been able to achieve is admirable. The commitment to public service the family has with a Son in the Marines and a Son in the Naval Academy speaks to what they believe in this country.

As I reflect upon the campaign, I am listening to a audio diary from Manuel in Zimbabwe who is talking about the misery of life in that country. Mugabe seems to have stuck his head in the sand. How can he go to sleep when there are millions of his compatriots who can't afford bread, have no running water and no electricity? I can't understand it...but I am not supposed to understand....

What a Day....amazing!!!.

Well, John McCain is officially now the presumptive Republican Nominee. George W. Bush endorsed him today. I envy George W. Bush. For a man who has presided over such a disaster of a Presidency, he has a lot of nerve to go before the people and basically tell the people that they should accept another 4 years of the same. Their time has passed. I don't see anything that tells me otherwise, right now.

Meantime, the Democrats are still at it. Senator Clinton fought back, yet again. The fight goes on. What I am fearful of is that this fight will embolden the Republicans and once again we will have four years of Republican Rule. John McCain has said he will run a "respectful" campaign. For the sake of the country, I hope that is the case.

The struggle continues.......

Super Tuesday...Will it be over?

The Economist dubbed the upcoming election as the "Greatest Show on Earth". Despite the fact that we are about to have the first $ 1 Billion Presidency, at least market forces have a strange way of working itself out. Senator Clinton and Senator Obama are vying for the Democratic Nomination. I think the Democractic Party will be stronger, more united and more progressive as a result of this dialogue. No matter what the pundits have said, Bill Clinton's advocacy of his wife is the right thing to do...and Senator Obama said is as much. I don't understand what folks meant by being "Presidential...".

I was sorry to see John Edwards stop his run for the Presidency. He gave voice for those of us who had no voice. He spoke for me and my aspirations. I trust that the two remaining leading Democractic Candidates will make sure that the aspirations of those of us who are "..faces in the crowd"...will be heard and will be addressed. I do worry about John McCain, though. I read Mark Penn's comments in Senator Clinton's Blog. I think Senator McCain is a formidable opponent and should not be taken lightly at all. I made these comments earlier in Senator Clinton's Campaign Blog to reflect upon this very fact:

"..Super Tuesday is before us....For the sake of our party, I hope that it is settled. In John McCain, we will have a tough and formidable opponent. I realize Mark Penn's view that Senator Clinton can beat Senator McCain. But, whatever one thinks of Senator McCain, his courage, committment to service and his willingness to tell it like it is not in doubt. The issue is one of vision as I see it. It is whether we want a vision of a someone is a neo-con's neo-con, or someone either Senator Clinton or even Senator Obama who want to change the mindset that has caused us to be ridiculed around the world. I was glad to read that Senator Clinton and Senator Obama started this during the latest debate in California....." As noted in : http://connect.hillaryclinton.com/blog/Mikeps-Blog/400017732, Feburary 2, 2008.

I do remain hopeful...but scared....we have some tough and challenging times before us.....
