Notations On Our World (W-End Edition): On The Challenge of Hunger......

Our team will be busy supporting one of the most worthy causes over the ensuing months--Scouting for Food.  It is a National Campaign the Boy and Girl Scouts spearhead to support Feeding America.  Here in Orange County, we will be working to raise food in support of Second Harvest Food Bank.    An Estimated 300,000 people are food-insecure in Orange County.     We will be reporting on it over the ensuing weeks here in our Ordinary Faces Property.

We wanted to share this courtesy of the team at Feeding America about the challenge of hunger as the on-going challenge of it continues:

Summertime! Usually it means sunshine, long days, and warm
nights. But not for kids who rely on free and reduced-price meals at school.

For many of them, summer = hunger.

Want to do something quick and easy about it? Good!

My challenge to you: Play the Hungry to Learn game! It'll test your summer hunger smarts and even better, a generous donor will donate a meal to Feeding America when you do.

Helping more kids get the food they need to grow and thrive has never been easier.

Start here by answering this question:
Round 1: The Feeding America network of food banks relies on rescued and donated food to help make sure no family goes hungry. But during the summer, donations drop, and we have to purchase more needed items to make sure we always have them in stock. Can you guess what these essentials are?
No child deserves to spend the summer wondering where their next meal will come from. Thank you for taking the challenge and helping us put a dent in a child's hunger this summer.

So what are you waiting for? Get started now – I'm sure you'll learn something new!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Nielsen signatureElizabeth Nielsen
