Notations on Our World: On #AbuDhabi, #Kobane & Other Thoughts

Being on the "Social Grid" over the Weekend was ever so eye opening as the noted Middle East Scholar shared this on her Facebook Page:

This is the new palace by the Emir of Abu Dhabi.   The sand was imported from Algeria.    It is a beautiful piece of Architecture.   But, this sense of opulence underscores the continued challenge being faced in the Middle East Today.   It is also ever so emblematic of the challenge being faced WOrldwide about the continued income gap which the Chair of the Federal Reserve Board, Janet Yellen, warned about as the World Economy continues to be on the edge ever more.

Beyond the oasis of the United Arab Emirates, there is the reality of war in Iraq.    The daily reports are just too horrific.   The latest was the carnage ensued due to a suicide bombing at a Shiite Mosque in Baghdad that resulted in 17 deaths as they were leaving noon prayers.     The battle for #Kobane is also continuing with no apparent end in sight.   The latest developments included US airdrops for the fighters in #Kobane as some have dubbed it the Stalingrad of the Middle East. As we also went to press this morning, we received reports from Israel as reported by i24News that Israel Defense Forces opened fire at the Lebanon Border.   This is as the Iranian Foreign Minister, Dr. Zarif, is in Lebanon to reiterate Iranian Support for Lebanon as it also fights off the collateral damage of the insurgency in Syria.

A challenging World.....
