Notations On Our World: On Egypt Right Now

The long-awaited move by Egyptian Security Forces against the encampments by the Muslim Brotherhood has begun. I have been seeing live coverage from CNN International and Al Jazeera as they have been reporting on this. People have been killed. Al Jazeera showed scenes of the wounded being treated at Make-shift field hospitals.

As I write this, Al Jazeera's Raaia Ragee is reporting of attacks on churches which is also quite distubring. The protests seem to be spreading not just in Cairo, but throughout the Country. One indication is that banks are closing and the country is starting to shut down. The defiance continues throughout the Country.

It was only a matter of time before the decision was made. As Farwaz Gergis of the London School of Economics has noted, Street Politics has replaced Electoral Politics and this does not bode well for Egypt.
